The Scottish Gemmological Conference 2011
AnchorCert was very pleased to sponsor The Scottish Gemmological Conference 2011 which took place on Friday 29th April to Monday 2nd May at The Queens Hotel, Perth.
The informative and fun four day conference consisted of many workshops and demonstrations where experts of the gemmological world came from far and wide to share their knowledge and participate in the action.
Dr. Karl Schmetzer, an independent gemmology researcher and consultant based in Germany, attended the conference and gave a two fascinating talks about the history and properties of the gemstone Alexandrite.
Another speaker who intrigued delegates with his talk about Jadeite and testing precious gemstones in Hong Kong, was founder and Principal of the Asian Gemmological Institute & Laboratory Dominic Mok.
Special thanks goes to Brian Jackson, Chairman of the Scottish Gemmological Association, who organized the fantastic field trip on Monday to the National Museum of Scotland where delegates of the conference had the rare chance to view Scottish gems and minerals not on display to the public.
